Photo Within a Photo

This is one project that my advanced photography students can choose from. This lesson could easily be adapted to digital.

THE PLAN
10+ sessions; 50 minutes per session

Students will be able to create a thoughtful three-dimensional composition with one or more photos.

Camera
Film
Access to Darkroom
Mat board
dry mount

Need these materials? Visit Blick!

1. Take photos and process film
2. Print photos in darkroom. Print one of each of the following: 8x10, 5x7, 3.5x5, 1.5x2, and contact print.
3. Dry mount each photo to white mat board.
4. Use mat cutter to cut down each mounted photo to get a "bevel"
5. Rubber cement the photos together in a tasteful composition.

Students are graded based on a generalized advanced photography rubric.
