This lesson for me falls after a number of drawing lessons looking at dragons, so this is assumed knowledge of the students.

1. Open the class discussing texture and how it is made through pattern, have some examples. I then ask students to come up and create a pattern on the board and the rest of the class copy them down in their books.

2. Ask the students to choose a dragon style they have enjoyed and do a simple LINE drawing in their book.

3.Cover this drawing with a large grid (I usually say minimum 2cmx2cm)

4.Fill every square with a dragon part inside with a pattern that creates a texture.

5. Students who finish early can colour theur background squares in and go over their oatterns with black pen to make it pop out
